How to Do an End of the Year Review

Whether this year was the best or worst year of your life, or somewhere in between, I want to empower you to focus on what you did right and everything you did accomplish, rather than focusing on what went wrong or how far you still have to go.

So this is really just going to be about listing your accomplishments for the year. ? This is totally just a list for you – you can write it on your phone, a journal, anywhere – so you can create whatever rules you want for what “counts” as an accomplishment.

You might have some things on the list like, “Made a new friend,” “Decided to make a change,” “Ran a 5k,” or anything you want. They can be big or little; it’s all up to you. ?

What you focus on expands, so try focusing on the good right now.

“Remember, you have been criticizing yourself for years and it hasn’t worked. Try approving of yourself and see what happens.” – Louise Hay

Even if things didn’t go the way you wanted, maybe you still applied for a job, asked someone on a date, got out of bed, tried meditation, or anything else. Celebrate every small win here.

Push yourself to come up with a list of at least 20-30 little accomplishments. Big or small, it all counts!

Look back on the list you’ve created. Do you notice any themes or patterns? Was this the year of breaking out as a social butterfly or focusing on your career? Where did you seem to make the most progress? What do you want to improve?

Next, we’re going to look to the year ahead. What are some things you want to accomplish next year? Try setting an intention or a single word or mantra to guide the upcoming year, like “peace,” “calm,” “happy,” or “stress less.”

This is mostly about reviewing the past year, but you can definitely think about what changes you want to make from the way things were this last year to how you want things to be next year.

Good luck.
