Thanksgiving is still a ways away, but since we’re in fall I figured I could start writing posts about Thanksgiving. 🙂 So, to start getting you thinking about gratitude this season, here are 10 things to be grateful for this Thanksgiving if you’re depressed. I can almost guarantee that these are all things you can be grateful for in your own life.
5 Things to Be Grateful for This Thanksgiving if You’re Depressed
I know Thanksgiving used to be sort of stressful for me when I was really depressed because I felt like I was supposed to be grateful for a lot of things in my life, when in reality I just hated my life and didn’t want to be grateful for anything. So it was kind of a bitter cycle.
But what I didn’t realize is that gratitude is the one tool that turns what you already have into enough. Even without changing your circumstances, you can change your whole outlook on life with just gratitude.
It’s one of the most powerful free tools available.
1. You’re alive
I’m pretty sure this one is accurate for you (along with the other ones :)). So, you have at least one thing to be grateful for.
2. You’re breathing
Sometimes even breathing is a miracle. You’ve survived every moment of your life up through the present, and here you are, still breathing. 🙂 I think that’s pretty amazing.
3. You have a body
… or if you don’t then someone around you has a body and is reading this post to your body-less brain of consciousness. Which means that someone cares about you and we’ve reached the future of technology! #relentlesslypositive
4. You have internet access
So far Resilient is only available on the interwebz, so you or someone you know had internet access in order to read this.
5. You’re reading this
So you’re literate (or someone around you is), which is pretty cool because that means you can read literally millions of books that contain the stories and wisdom and knowledge of humans throughout the history of the world.
Bonus: You are not the turkey on the table being eaten. Oh wait, that’s my former vegetarian self talking. 😉
