Adult coloring books are a super popular way to relieve stress!  I like coloring from time to time (though I usually don’t stay inside the lines haha :)) and it’s a nice meditative kind of activity as an alternative to actual meditation.

Coloring with anti stress coloring pages is just one of those things you can do whenever you have a free moment to just relax and unwind.  Plus, another one of the benefits of coloring for adults is that you get to step away from the electronics and focus on something totally analog (though there are coloring apps and coloring books for adults online too). Here are 19 adult coloring books for stress relief.

Adult coloring books are also good if you can’t sleep and want to do something that sort of lulls you back to sleep without turning on any screens that could possibly keep you up.  Try it!

I’ve listed a whole bunch of the best coloring books for adults below.  Since the designs for anxiety relief adult coloring books are kind of similar, I just have pictures of the covers. 🙂

There are a number of mindfulness adult coloring books, coloring books for sleep, stress relief adult coloring books, Zentangle style coloring books, and more. You may want a style of coloring book with very small, intricate, detailed designs so you can make small, precise movements, or you might want something with bigger designs that let you be more free and creative or even color them in with something like watercolor.

Adult coloring books are usually much more detailed designs than children’s. There’s also some coloring books with short phrases, words, or mantras to inspire you while you’re coloring them in.

Coloring can also be considered a form of art therapy. Just take your pick!

Plus of course you’ll need something to color with. Try these color pencils or pens. 🙂  Man, I think I’ve used Prismacolor color pencils since I was in elementary school and could hold a pencil.  They last forever!

Katie, Adult coloring really works to bring you quiet peace. I have about 6 books now and gel pens along with colored pencils. There are groups you can join locally where 10 + people , mostly ladies, can color together over coffee and conversation. My group meets at a large grocery store or coffee shop. We exchange tecnique and ideas for shading and how to draw mandellas. When I am coloring my mind is free, focused on the project and nothing else. I belong to a depression group at Kaiser Hosp and they teach us how to perform mindfullness, nutrition, how our brain works, and neuroplasticity, in laymen's terms.
