Changing your life is easy in theory and much more difficult in practice. But there’s one truth that can change your whole perspective on making changes in your life. Here’s the truth about changing your life.
The Truth About Changing Your Life
Here’s the truth that you need to know about making any big change in your life (and it sounds a little harsh at first):
“You can have results or excuses, but not both.” – Arnold Schwarzenegger
The first time I heard this, I was like WHOA. It definitely packs a punch. And pretty soon, it became my mantra for making progress.
But you also have to start examining your own thoughts and beliefs.
If your goal was to lose weight this year, you’ll probably run into plenty of opportunities to prove your commitment and how much you really want to achieve this goal.
Maybe you wake up one day and don’t feel like exercising or making a healthy breakfast.
Remember your mantra: results or excuses? Not both.
Maybe it’s raining out so running outside would be kind of miserable. But if you made a commitment to achieving this goal, then that’s an excuse, not a valid reason for not taking action.
Yep, this way of changing your life can sound a little harsh, so it’s not the right method for everyone, but you will definitely reach your goals much faster if you take action every single day regardless of how you feel.
For a goal like becoming happy, you’ll probably want to take a much gentler approach with yourself and celebrate every small win and not worry too much about setbacks.
But just imagine how much you could accomplish in your life if you didn’t allow yourself to make ANY excuses? Pretty soon, you’d be at the top of your A-game.
“I only write when inspiration strikes. Fortunately it strikes at nine sharp every morning.” – William Faulkner
Results or excuses.
It’s your choice.
