The Best Weighted Blankets for Calming and Sleep
Weighted blankets are a cozy and comforting invention that simply adds a little extra weight to a blanket – usually with pellets or beads sewn in – in order to give you a reassuring squeeze. They’re perfect for anxiety or stress relief, or for simply helping you get a better night’s sleep.

Weighted Blanket for Anxiety | Weighted Blanket Review
Weighted blankets are a soothing and comforting way to relieve anxiety and sleeplessness. They can also help generally with stress or depression.
I got one and it’s great! It’s like a regular blanket but it has little pellets sewn into it to give the blanket a little bit of weight (10 pounds total for the size I got because I decided to go with a lighter one) that feels like a hug or massage (actually it’s kind of like there’s a cat sleeping on you haha).
How Heavy Should A Weighted Blanket Be? | Weighted Blanket Weight Guide
It’s recommended that you use a weighted blanket that’s about 10% of your total body weight for the best feeling and comfort, or even a little lighter if it’s your first time trying one.
The first few nights you use your weighted blanket, it might feel a little weird. Personally, I think it feels like the lead blanket that they put over you when taking X-rays at the dentist.
If your weighted blanket is TOO light, it’s not much different than a regular blanket, but if it’s too heavy, it might feel uncomfortable.
Keep in mind that smaller blankets (such as a twin or full size blanket) will have more concentrated weight than a queen or king size blanket.
So a 10 pound blanket would FEEL a lot heavier in a smaller size like a twin. The 10 pounds of weight would be a lot more spread out on a king size blanket and feel lighter overall.
This 10 pound throw size one was a great weight for me for my first weighted blanket. I just put it on top of my regular sheet and fleece blanket. 🙂
If there was a 12 pound blanket, that might be right around the perfect weight, but some weighted blankets are only available in 10, 15, 20, or 25 pounds.
Since I got it, I’ve literally been using this weighted blanket every single night!

Do Weighted Blankets Actually Work?
In my opinion, yes! I sleep with my weighted blanket every night and it’s definitely a comforting and reassuring feeling, but having said that, I don’t think there’s been a lot of scientific studies on the effectiveness of weighted blankets.
But if it makes me feel better, I’m still going to use it, and I do feel that my weighted blanket is calming and helps me sleep better. 🙂
