There are many possible lessons to be learned in life, but there’s one in particular that can help guide you in the decisions you make as you journey through life. Here’s one life lesson you need to know.
One Life Lesson You Need to Know
I was recently watching a video from Gary Vaynerchuk, a serial entrepreneur and speaker, and he was asked a question about what you should do if you’re not naturally an “early bird” if you want to get the worm, so to speak.
What if your wings are shorter? What if you can’t be an early bird?
What do you do then?
He basically said this: if you know your wings are shorter, wake up earlier.
Say, “I know my wings are shorter than most birds, so I’m just going to wake up earlier and work harder.”
I think it’s an important life lesson that it’s more important to know yourself and know what works for YOU rather than just doing what everyone else does. What works or feels right for most people might not work for you.

It doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you, it just means that you can do things differently.
If you know that it takes you more time and practice to learn something than other people, then take that into account. If it’s taking everyone else 1,000 hours to learn a certain skill, allow yourself at least 10,000 hours (these are just made up numbers ;)). Know yourself, and don’t get discouraged if your journey doesn’t look like someone else’s journey.
If you know that you need to actually do something hands-on to learn and reading from a book isn’t going to get you anywhere, then do that. Do what you need to do to make it happen.
It doesn’t matter what everyone else is doing or how long it takes other people to accomplish the same thing: all you have to do is know yourself and honor that.
Your journey is unfolding just the way it should. Trust that, keep your chin up, and never give up.
